About
Verdica Produce scores every PACA-licensed broker, dealer, and commission merchant in the United States — using nothing but publicly available government records.
The Problem
In the fresh produce industry, growers ship perishable goods worth tens of thousands of dollars to buyers they may never have met. A single bad deal — with a buyer who has a history of payment disputes, suspended licenses, or reparation orders — can wipe out an entire season's profit.
Until now, verifying a buyer's track record meant manually searching fragmented government databases, filing FOIA requests, and calling industry contacts. That information existed — but it was scattered, slow to find, and impossible to compare.
The Solution
Verdica Produce aggregates license records, complaint histories, and financial enforcement actions from three official USDA data sources — and distills them into a single 300–850 score for every PACA-licensed entity.
There is no advertising, no paid placement, and no way for a company to pay to improve their score. Verdica Scores reflect what the public record says — nothing more, nothing less.
Principles
Every data point comes from official USDA records. We never use private, scraped, or user-submitted information.
Scores cannot be influenced by advertising, sponsorship, or any commercial relationship. The algorithm is the same for every entity.
Basic lookups and license verification are free, forever. You should always be able to check who you're doing business with.
How Scores Work
The Verdica Score combines three independently weighted sub-scores — License & Compliance, Complaint History, and Financial Indicators — into a single 300–850 number. Each sub-score draws from different USDA data sources and is updated weekly.
